HOW BEST TO USE THE COURSE

EAT SANELY: This Year You Really Start

Eat Sanely: This Year You Really Start can be followed as a self-help or as a coach-assisted course. The information here can help you identify the format most likely to lead you to success.

The Eat Sanely CourseSelf-Help Workbook – If you follow the course as self-help, you will find 17 modules (chapters) covering a range of sane eating and behavior change topics. Each module contains worksheets and assignments for you to complete. It works well to spend some time–even several days or a week or two–on a given set of worksheets. This way, you build small changes and new habits over time. You give yourself plenty of time to integrate new ideas into your thinking. You can go through the course more quickly, if you want. However, slower pacing works best for many.

Who will find the self-help method most successful? Those who have had good results in the past with self-help methods, those who are good at structuring and organizing themselves to complete tasks independently, those who can pick themselves back up fairly easily when discouraged.

Guided Coaching ProgramsCoach-Assisted Course - There are two different ways to follow the course with coach assistance. One way involves completing the course modules in order, with an initial evaluation and then regularly scheduled phone coaching sessions to track your progress, problem-solve, and provide extra support where needed.

Alternatively, you can complete your initial evaluation with Dr. Katz and have her then recommend which modules best suit your immediate needs. You can then follow the modules in the prescribed order, with regularly scheduled coaching sessions supporting you along the way.

Consider the coach-assisted course if you’ve struggled with your eating for a long time, despite many diets or other self-help efforts. The added support can make a big difference as you prepare once again to make important changes.
